“……..so where does all the money go?”
People in and around Budleigh Salterton generously support our fund raising projects, but we do get asked “Where does all the money actually go"?. The actual running costs of the club come from membership subscriptions so everything we raise gets recycled back to Lions Charities we support.
Over the 30 years that the club has existed we reckon we have raised about £500,000.
Donations are often made to individuals who have a particular need, like a contribution towards the purchase of a mobility scooter, a walking aid for a severally disabled teenager, local cancer charities sponsored events, the local community bus, water wells and eye camps (to restore sight) in the developing world, the Exmouth Lifeboat, breast cancer, Budleigh Salterton Christmas street lights, and our ever popular Christmas lunch for about 100 local OAPs. We also support the Good Shepard Hospital in Swaziland who have to look after the families of HlV/Aids victims. We give an amount each month so that the children can have a level of after care to hetp with medication or school books etc.
In June 2008 we sponsored Nicky Harry to undertake a trek in the Sierra Nevada to raise money for the Parkinsons Disease Society. Nicky successfully completed the trek and raised a total of £1350.
In December 2008 we donated £500 to the charity Inaheartbeat to support them in supplying Goody Boxes at Christmas time. See press release.
You can contact the Welfare Chairman Lion Alan Lowe on 01395443815 or enquiries@budleighlions.org So thanks for your generous support and please continue to do so.
THANK YOU
